St Peter's Church, HanwellWelcome

Welcome to the Hanwell Village web site. This section of the site will keep you up to date on Parish Council news, in particular proposed planning applications that may effect the village in the future. We have also recently added a page with links to the Minutes of Parish Council meetings.

About Hanwell Village
Hanwell is a small village of approximately 120 houses. It is situated three miles from the centre of Banbury in Oxfordshire and is linked to the town by the Warwick Road (B4100) and the Southam Road (A423) connecting with the small village road.

The majority of the village is contained within a conservation area with two historic listed buildings on its southern boundary:  The 12th century St. Peter's Church and Hanwell Castle. There are also medieval fish ponds within the village and many old houses and cottages.

The Hanwell Fields Development
Recently many of the fields on the north side of Banbury were allocated as building plots for 900 houses. Most of these houses have now been built and further development towards Hanwell village is now being considered by the planning department of Cherwell District Council.

This web site has information of proposed sites and current planning applications submitted to the council. It also has information on possible sites that may be included in the Local Plan concerning sites within the village itself that may be developed in the future.
